The digital divide issue is an enormous and complicated
problem. The task of providing the
Internet to all levels of society in developing countries would be an impossible
task for any relief organization. InterConnection
realizes this challenge and has focused its support accordingly.
Through research and past experience InterConnection determined that the
groups that can receive the most immediate benefits from Internet technology are
non-profit organizations, commonly referred to as nongovernmental organizations
(NGOs) .
Providing internet support to these groups accomplishes two
fundamental objectives:
·
it will reduce the ever-increasing
technology gaps between developed
and under-developed countries,
·
it will fundamentally transform
and improve the way the organizations operate, resulting in a greater ability to
accomplish their missions.
