For obscure community organizations in developing nations, a website provides a communications miracle — a conduit to global awareness, volunteers and resources.  Unfortunately, this is a miracle available only to those with money and Internet expertise.

For those with neither, there’s InterConnection.

InterConnection is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide no-cost and low-cost professional, affordable websites and Internet technology assistance to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in developing countries.

WHAT CAN A WEBSITE DO FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRY NGO?

No matter the size, location or mission of an organization, a professional web site can create opportunities to:

·        Create a connection between isolated groups and the external world, facilitating a two-way flow of information and expertise
·
Solicit volunteers, hire new staff and form mission-critical partnerships and alliances
·
Gain financial, material and political support from foundations and individuals
·
Market products and services to a worldwide audience
·
Provide a platform for sharing local issues and challenges.
·
Gain a higher level of professionalism and importance
·
Gain a better understanding and appreciation of the Internet.
