Marketing of Handicrafts Revolving Commercialization Fund: This fund was initiated in 1995, with a donation from the Andes Foundation (Chile). The fund allows the Foundation to buy textiles from artisans involved in our educative programs, and has facilitated the establishment of a small selling cooperative. Women are able to obtain fair prices for their goods and avoid high cuts to middlemen. The Chol – Chol fund is strictly non-profit, and about 80% of the selling price is paid directly to the artisan; the remaining 20% allows to pay for handicraft fair costs, advertising, labels, etc. The fund has been hugely successful, and maintains approximately US $5,000 in account and stock. The artisan program, which started with 60 women, today helps 200. Of these 200, 120 are commercializing constantly through the fund. About one year ago, the Foundation decided to form a committee composed of the artisans which serves to represent their peers and product pricing and selection, and exhibition and fair organization. Aid to Artisans is a group committed to supporting the production and marketing efforts of artisans around the world. In May 2000. Aid to Artisans provided the Chol – Chol Foundation with a grant to augment our revolving loan fund. The grant, received through Aid to Artisans’ Marketing Support program, will allow for increased sales of textiles through the Foundation’s commercialization program. Currently we are selling approximately US $ 2000 per month of products per month. We sell from our own offices, where we have a small shop, and through a number of artisan fairs and other exhibitions. During 1998 and 1999 we participated in the following fairs:
