British Embassy in Chile funds a new training center for the Chol – Chol Foundation The project titled "Construction of a Classroom for Educational Sessions with Adult Rural Mapuches" was approved in November 1998, and construction began in January 1999. By the end of March, the Foundation was the proud owner of a new fully equipped classroom and kitchen. The classroom has been an important tool in training sessions and seminars, facilitating education in agricultural techniques, forestry management, handicraft production, social issues, etc. Because the Foundation believes effective education must be participatory, the center, along with its surrounding flower, vegetable and tree demonstration plots, are ideal. With the help of the Andes Foundation and the Ford Foundation, this property will soon be transformed into the Foundation’s main centre of activities. We hope to incorporate a new shop, and various productive units, in order to continue to provide new initiatives for our beneficiaries. The classroom donated by the British Embassy will play a key central role to these new educational activities taking place at this property. |
