A Letter from our President

Dearest Supporters,

2018 was a steady year for InterConnection as we worked to increase community awareness surrounding our mission to bridge the digital divide by providing affordable refurbished computers and high-speed internet to underserved communities in Seattle and across the U.S.

The digital divide is the economic and social inequality regarding access to information and communication technologies. It is estimated that 20% of households earning less than $30k per year (about 3.4 million American households) do not have broadband internet access at home.

InterConnection is able to provide high speed internet access through affordable hotspot devices by partnering with Mobile Citizen. Together, we provided high speed internet to 3,100 low-income individuals and nonprofit organizations in 2018.

The average American household produces 176 pounds of e-waste every year, but thanks to committed supporters like you, we were able to prevent over 1 million pounds of e-waste from ending up in landfills in 2018 alone. At InterConnection, your IT equipment donations help both our environment and the community when your computers are able to be refurbished and reused by individuals needing access to technology.

There are currently about 5 million school aged children in the U.S. without access to high speed internet, making it nearly impossible for many to complete homework assignments. In 2019, we hope to be able to provide computer and internet access to students in need, by fundraising and partnering with local organizations who work to identify students needing access to technology at home.

InterConnection is committed to transparency, and we are happy to announce that in 2018, we received The Silver Seal of Transparency from GuideStar. It is important that our donors know how their donations will be used as we begin a fundraising effort in order to expand our existing programs, as well as work toward bridging the digital divide that students face.

InterConnection is proud to be a part of your community and wouldn’t exist without the support of our donors and customers alike. So, thank you for all the ways you impact our organization. We hope to see you in 2019!

Choose to Reuse!

Sincerely,

Harry Egler, President

InterConnection’s Impact in the Community

InterConnection’s Computer Grant Program

Throughout the year, InterConnection awards at least 200 computers to 501(c)(3) non profit organizations that apply to our quarterly grant program. In 2018, we awarded 206 computers to deserving organizations doing good in their communities.

“Women at the Well-Broward, Inc received a donation of three desktops for our ‘Get Focused Stay Focused’ #collegereadiness program from InterConnection… [that will be used to] help teen girls and women improve their lives. We are grateful and thankful for all of our donors. Without your support, our organization would not be successful.”

-Board of Directors, Women at the Well
