Eighth Wave of Avanade Tech Grants Awarded

 

InterConnection is proudly partnered with Avanade to award refurbished computers to nonprofits educating youth across the country. With the technological resources provided via the Avanade Tech Grant, recipient organizations can accelerate their social impact to better serve their communities. We are thrilled to announce the latest recipient of the Avanade Tech Grant, who received their new devices this winter.

Graham Windham serves 4,000+ children and youth at 10 community-based sites in Harlem, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Westchester, New York by providing a wide range of services including: family foster care, adoption, mental and behavioral healthcare, parenting support, afterschool care, and youth development. One of their most innovative programs, Graham SLAM, provides coaching and support to young people in foster care through youth to age 26.

In full partnership with families and communities, Graham Windham makes a life-altering difference for youth and families who are overcoming difficult challenges by helping them build a strong foundation for life: a safe, loving, permanent family and the opportunity to thrive in school and in the world.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students who rely on Graham Windham’s Manhattanville Cornerstone Afterschool Program were required to transition to remote learning classes. A large percentage of their low-income students live in public housing and are disadvantaged by the lack of technology required for online school. These students depend on the Cornerstone Afterschool Program to meet their remote learning needs.

With the awarded computers, Graham Windham will be able to provide remote learning access to 50 more students in the Manhattanville Cornerstone Afterschool Program. Staff will also be able to provide tutoring support in science, math and reading enrichment.
