Second Wave of

Avanade Tech Grants

Awarded to Washington

Nonprofits

InterConnection is proudly partnered with Avanade to award refurbished computers to nonprofits providing education to youth in Washington. With the technological resources provided via the Avanade Tech Grant, recipient organizations can accelerate their social impact and better serve the community. We are thrilled to announce the latest recipients of the Avanade Tech Grant, who received their new devices this spring.

Kent Youth and Family Services promote the healthy development of children, youth, and families in South King County by providing counseling, education, and support services. After School Programs provide a variety of educational opportunities for youth and their families living in 3 King County Housing Authority sites on the East Hill of Kent: Birch Creek Apartments, Valli Kee Homes, and Cascade Apartments. The Avanade Tech Grant awarded computers for youth to use for homework, games, and workshops. Adult students will also have access to the computers for language acquisition programs and word processing skills.

The Iraqi Community Center of Washington (IRCCW) is a nonprofit focused on providing culturally and linguistically competent social services to Iraqi refugees in Washington State so they can become self-sufficient as they make a successful transition to life in America. IRCCW offers tutoring to support students from elementary through high school. Tutoring takes place both at school, and the Iraqi Community Center. The IRCCW even has a classroom dedicated to tutoring, but was lacking computers needed for online study. The Avanade Tech Grant provided computers that will serve 25 elementary school students and 15-20 middle and high school students on site.

Key Tech Labs mission is to build self-sustaining communities by equipping minorities with STEM skills to thrive in the workplace of tomorrow. Through project-based learning which leads to self-empowerment, Key Tech Labs empowers underprivileged communities to repair, repurpose, upgrade, and advance the world through curriculum built on sustainable learning systems and integrated peer-to-peer mentoring. Avanade’s Tech Grant provided computers to enable Key Tech Labs to run STEM education classes and events at multiple schools across King County- from Shoreline to Enumclaw!
