Fourth Wave
Avanade Tech Grants
Awarded to Nonprofits Strengthening Their Communities
InterConnection is proudly partnered with Avanade to award refurbished computers to nonprofits providing education to youth across the U.S. With the technological resources provided via the Avanade Tech Grant, recipient organizations can accelerate their social impact and better serve the community. We are thrilled to announce the latest recipients of the Avanade Tech Grant, who received their new devices this spring.

Cal Poly Pomona was established in 1968 as a premier polytechnic university. Today, the university has over 25,000 undergraduate students, the majority of whom are from underserved populations. Cal Poly Pomona is also ranked as the 3rd most diverse university in the USA. It is also ranked 8th in the nation in converting the bottom 20% socioeconomic members to the top 20%.
All Tech Grant equipment received will be distributed to Cal Poly Pomona students directly to aid in their pursuit and continuation of higher education. Counselors at the student resources center will provide additional resources and guidance to help students succeed throughout their undergraduate education.
The laptops awarded by the Avanade Tech Grant will be used for CHOOSE 180’s virtual diversion sessions.During the sessions, young people are inspired to “pause, pivot, and commit” to a new positive direction. Participants who complete the sessions not only avoid having a criminal record with no charge filed, but also strengthen their mindset and deepen their sense of direction through goal-setting curriculum. Following the sessions, participants are given additional support and resources needed to stay on a path of positive change.

The Big-Brained Superheroes Club, an after-school program at The Yesler Community Center in Seattle, encourages Big Brains to build valuable skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM). Through the visualization and creation of their own works of art and science, Big Brains learn how and why the world works the way it does- and how they can make it better. Combined with Real-Life Superpowers like Teamwork, Leadership, and Kindness, Big Brains become mighty forces for good in their community and in the world!
Through this grant, thirteen low-income Yesler Terrace community members will receive laptops so their children will be able to do schoolwork and engage in online learning at home.
