The Katmandu Environmental Education Network
Duration: 15 days
Cost: $1050
Time: All Year
Nepal is truly one of the most amazing places on earth. It is one of the
smallest countries in the world, yet boasts the highest mountain, the deepest
valley, and an astonishing array of wildlife, bird life and plants. On this
program you will work on one of the many village programs for the Katmandu
Environmental Education Network (KEEP). The Kathmandu Environmental
Education Project aims to help minimize the negative influences of tourism by
advocating and promoting "minimum impact" trekking, and through
presentations and lectures to travellers and trekking industry professionals.
These presentations sensitize visitors and Nepalese to issues of conservation
and culture.
What You Can Expect
Your days in Nepal will be spent working with local villagers and KEEP
staff. You may head out to several villages to conduct interviews and
take photographs to obtain the information needed for their
website. After your project is completed, there will be time to
visit Chitwan National Park, home to the famous white rhino. For four days
you will explore the park on foot, in canoes and by
elephant.
