COMMUNITY FOCUS
MONDAY - FRIDAY (6:00 - 8:00)

This program focuses on the various local communities. This community takes priority because this is where MAMA FM is located. The program provides information on the developmental trends in the area, what services are available, who does what, the local council structures and peoples relations with each other.

Objective
  • To highlight developments in the area
  • To mobilize people to participate in activities that will lead to the improvement of self and the community

RISE AND SHINE

This program is about empowerment. It focuses on issues affecting disadvantaged people in general. It encourages these people, especially women to stand on their own and build their self-esteem. It furthers encourages them to be assertive and confident and take on the challenges of the world as they come. It offers tips of self-administration and management.

  • Model society to appreciate the role of women
  • Encourage underprivileged people to have self-esteem
  • Discourage unbecoming behavior in society and give alternative behaviors

KATUKYOGEREKO
MONDAY - FRIDAY (11:00AM - 1:00PM)

The program aims at bringing out social issues that are often ignored by society and people generally prefer not to discuss publicly. People call in and give their views. They also write and fax their views. Oral testimonies are also recorded from people.

  • To expose social evils, injustice and imbalances in society
  • Find solutions to social problems
  • Discourage unbecoming behavior in society
  • Generate debate on social behavior

SPEAK OUT! LISTEN!
MONDAY - FRIDAY (1:00PM - 3:00PM)

The program offers you a platform to come out and speak out on issues that concern you. This gives you an opportunity to get a response from other people who may agree or not agree with your position. This program encourages exchange of ideas and welcomes feedback from the audience.

  • Offers a platform for airing views
  • Promotes tolerance of other people's views
  • Offers solutions to everyday responsibilities

  • The audience determines the issues but the program mainly revolves around social issues determines these


YOU TOO CAN DO IT
MONDAYS - WEDNESDAY (3:00 - 5:00)

The program features society's role models in various aspects of life for example politically, socially, economically who are living with a handicap (blind, deaf) who have made it in life and are managing their circumstances well.

Objectives
  • To encourage people/audience to take up the challenge and also perform likewise or even better
Expected Output
  • A community determined to make positive change in their lives
Areas of Focus
  • Disability is not inability
  • Inventory for a prospectus future
  • Getting off the street and living a normal life


KATUSABALE
MONDAY - FRIDAY (5:00PM - 7:00PM)

The program derives its name from a Kiganda word łKusaabala˛ which can be translated into English as a voyage. It is an evening voyage because it's aired in the evening 5:00pm - 7.00pm. It brings on board some issues for discussion with a mix of music of all kinds but usually focuses on listeners' requests. The program is a companion for the family as they prepare their evening meals and enable them to relax.

  • To entertain audiences as they return home
  • To mobilize people in a friendly way
Expected Output
  • An entertained and cordial audience
Areas of Focus
  • Should political figures shape peoples social behavior e.g. Dress code, hairstyle etc.

HUMAN RIGHTS
MONDAY - FRIDAY (7:00PM - 9:00PM)

This program focuses on human rights. It aims at informing the people about their rights, duties and obligations and also ensuring that rights of the people are kept.

Objectives
  • To educate the community about their rights and what the law says
  • To inform local leaders about the law
  • Exposing human rights abuses in various settings e.g. protected camps, prisons, police and homes
  • Empowering society to identify when human rights are abused

OKWERINDA
TUESDAY & THURSDAY (3:00 - 4:00)

This program focuses on health matters ranging from reproductive health, hygiene, HIV/AIDS, preventive health measures. This program that runs twice a week encourages phone ins, letters, fax and live interviews on air.

  • Promote a health society

  • To lead a health life
  • To mobilise people towards promoting primary health care

PAPA - MAMA ROUND TABLE
SATURDAY (7:00PM - 9:00PM)

This is a program aimed at bringing women and men at a round table like the name suggests so that they can both present their case for better understanding of either ones positions and the changing gender relations. The women's movement seems to be lagging behind because the men have not been brought on board. It is hoped that this program will help bridge this gap.

  • To give a platform for both men and women to discuss issues that touch them so as to come to an understanding that will lead to sustainable development
  • To create unity in diversity so us to empower society
  • Put an end to gender conflicts

ISLAMIC HOUR
FRIDAY (3:00PM - 4:00PM)

This program is dedicated to the Islamic community as a way of making their special day (JUMA). It puts some issues raised by the KORAN into context at the community level. In this particular program, the sheikhs talk about the KORAN. We also have community voices and other people's views about the issues raised.

  • To cater for the spiritual needs of the Islamic community

KAMU KAMU (ONE BY ONE)
FRIDAY (4:00 - 5:00) & SUNDAY (7:00PM - 9:00AM)

This program focuses on small-scale businesses. It is aimed at promoting local small business people and enable them competitively operate in the business world. The program also gives the tips to improve on their businesses. Business experts and others who have made it this area. It gives tips on business hygiene, financial management and enterpreneurship.

ABAAMI WETULI? (HOW ABOUT THE MEN?)
SATURDAY (6:00AM - 8:00AM)

The program features men talking about the current gender relations as viewed by men. In this program the men are encouraged to exchange ideas on roles and responsibilities, rights and opportunities available for sustainable development. The men also get an opportunity to discuss their responsibilities, aspirations vis a vis the opposite sex and how they can work harmoniously with each other.

Objectives
  • To bring out the men's point of view
  • To encourage the male gender to appreciate the changing gender relations in society
  • To offer a platform for exchanging ideas

  • Appreciation of community especially male gender of changing gender relations in society

This program traces back to the old popular singers like Jim Reeves, Bob Marley, Abba and other artists.

ABAKYALA N'EBYOBUFUZI
SATURDAY (8:00AM - 11:00AM)

This program features women in politics on village, county, subcounty district and national level. It looks at the role and contribution of women in politics, what opportunities are available, what are the setbacks and it also examines how women can take on leadership positions and excel in positions hitherto considered as male domains. It also offers an opportunity for people to meditate on issues like land, domestic relations, privatization, taxes and the like.

Objectives
  • To avail opportunity to the public to air outs their views and learn from each other. From those views, the policy makers will be in position to know how to go about policy implementation having heard the views of the people.
  • From this talkshow, we also hope to influence the policy makers to change some of the laws which makes life hard for the local person e.g. the local government bill, land bill, increased electricity tariffs, women empowerment etc.
Expected Output
  • Positive legislation as far as women issues are concerned

OSANIDDE OMANYE
SATURDAY (1:00PM - 2:00PM)

This program focuses on issues of critical environmental concern and mobilizes the community to participate actively in the conservation and wise use of the environment for sustainable development. The Program also highlights appropriate technology methods, which are of great importance to environmentally friendly development.

Objectives
  • To bring to the fore issues of environmental concern
  • To offer a platform for exchange of ideas on the wise use of the environment
  • To highlight environment management structure and community's role in environmental management
Expected Output
  • The community recognizes the wise use of the environment

KIDDAWALIME
SATURDAY (12:00AM - 1:00AM)

This program is focused on modernized agriculture. It highlights the governments program on modernization and mobilizes people to exercise good and productive farming practices in order to increase yields and promote food security.

Objectives
  • Mobilize communities to embrace modern farming methods
  • Create a platform for exchange of information methods, practices and available markets
  • Provide information on service points and centers of information collection
Expected Output
  • A community equipped with information vital for sustainable development

NAWE KIKUKWATAKO

This program focuses on issues of social concern in the family and community as a whole. It brings to the attention of listeners, issues around us that need to be addresses and action taken upon them. It looks at family context and how family members can relate to each other for mutual development.

Objectives
  • To examine specific issues of relationships in homes
  • To offer life skills to family members on building strong family relations
  • To examine the relationship of a harmonious family as a basis for community /national development

ABAKYALA TWEYOGERERE

The program highlights women's activities, aspiration and achievements in politics, economic and social arenas. The women are given an opportunity to exchange ideas, offer advise and present solutions to problems that affect women's development.

  • To encourage women to speak out about what they are doing to improve their livelihoods
  • To share experiences and ideas on attaining recognition and status in society
  • To equip women with necessary skills for self and community development

NDI MUGEZI
SUNDAY (2:00PM - 3:00PM)

Ndi mugezi is a developmental program focusing on poverty eradication. It brings on board ideas/views, as how to solve the problem of poverty can be overcome. It aims at improving on the income. It aims at improving on the incomes of the poor for sustainable development.

Objectives
  • To highlight poverty issues as seen from the viewpoint of the local community
  • Gives options of how the communities can involve in different interest groups
Expected Output
  • Societies free of poverty

  • Communal participation in poverty eradication
  • Engaging in income generation activities

GLORIFY
SUNDAY (8:30AM - 10:00AM)

In a world of conflict, poverty and stress, glorify is an all about spiritual enlightenment. It airs people's testimonies from different walks of life. It also tells of how God used women in the Bible.

Objectives
  • To uplift the listeners spiritually through gospel music, Biblical verses and testimonies

CHILDREN'S SHOW
SUNDAY (11.00 - 12.00)

The program is about behavioral change amongst the children aged from 3 years of age. It aims at shaping independent and responsible children by differentiating responsibilities in their homes with children's rights. The program entails life experiences and appeals to parents to actively shoe their responsibilities towards children. Other activities in the program include greetings, birthday greetings, poems, story telling and good music that entertains children.

  • Offer guidance to children for responsible growth
  • To offer information in a light and enjoyable manner
  • To build independent and informed

This program focuses on Areas of Focus in parliament and serves as a link between the policy makers and the community. It also encourages community participation in nation building through telephone, letters, faxes, e-mails and physical presence in the program.

Objectives
  • To provide a forum for exchange of ideas on policy formulation and implementation
  • To facilitate a deeper understanding of Areas of Focus
  • To give an opportunity to policy makers to explain policy to the community
  • To give the community a platform to express their views and ideas towards nation building
Expected Output
  • A well-informed society capable of making informed decisions
  • Increased participation of the community in national building matters

COMMUNITY FOCUS
SATURDAY (2:00PM - 3:00PM)

This program handles contemporary issues in the communities we live in, ranging from political, social to economic issues. Community focus uses a cocktail of strategies to ensure a participatory program. Members of the community call in, write or fax their views about the issues being discussed. The program also handles guest speakers.

  • Having public input into media content
  • Enlighten policy makers on what the people really think and want
Expected Output
  • Policies that cater for the needs of the marginalised members of the society

This program comes on Saturday morning as people prepare to go out for their weekend chores. It is meant to put the audience in the mood to face the tasks a head.

TEENAGE
SATURDAY (3:00PM - 5:00PM)

This program focuses on the youth, their role in society and how they can grow up into responsible citizens in their communities and county as a whole. This is a totally participatory program that is presented by the youths themselves.

Topics are selected revolving around the social lives of the teenage today. They go out to fellow teenagers and their and to parents to seek their opinion on the Areas of Focus. Participation is encouraged through telephones, letters, greetings, fax, email, and personal visits to the studio.

Objective
  • To have the teenagers talk about health matters, growing up and related issues in their view point
  • To mobilise youths to become responsible citizens in society
Expected Output
  • A morally upright society
