The Other Voice

UMWA produces a newspaper pull-out targeting policy makers and the general public. UMWA has produced 11 issues of a newspaper pullout. In November 1999, The Other Voice was also produced in 4 vernaculars namely: Eiraka Ryawe in Runyakitara, Eporoto je in Ateso, Munyenye in Luganda and Dwon Mukene ni in Luo. These are aimed at giving a voice to those less or not heard in the media, to contribute to the gender debate and to highlight contradictions in policies that tend to affect the maginalised groups. The "Pull-Out" is used as an advance tool for a burning issue of the day. The vernaculars are produced quarterly, while the English version is now monthly.
