Civic Education

In the Presidential and parliamentary elections, (1996) UMWA was one of the five NGO's that participated in civic education. UMWA spearheaded media related civic and voter education activities.

This included:
  1. Development of messages for Radio and Television spots
  2. Print media statements and articles
  3. Plays on Radio and Television
  4. Video documentary on the electoral process
  5. Awareness raising which includes civic education and media campaigns on reproductive health
Civic Education programs on constitutional rights and duties with a focus on elections (1995-1998) the media practitioners were targeted through workshops on good governance, accountability and the Decentralization policy.

Election Monitoring (1996-1998) Focus on constraints and opportunities to women's participation in politics.
