It’s through this program, and the support of InterConnection’s generous donation, that a young girl escaping child marriage who found her way to our training center can begin to rebuild her self-esteem and learn a valuable trade through computer programming
Computer programming is a vital part of the Training for Tomorrow curriculum and is a valuable skill that these girls would otherwise not learn. During Africa Code Week, an IT professor from HOPE University Ethiopia who was assisting the girls with assignments noted “…their learning capability is beyond my expectation; they are brilliant, I hope some of them will be software engineers.”
Marissa Putney, a Board Member, told us that “it’s through this program, and the support of InterConnection’s generous donation, that a young girl escaping child marriage who found her way to our training center can begin to rebuild her self esteem and learn a valuable trade through computer programming. She currently has access to an internet based curriculum involving logical thinking, critical thinking and problem solving, allowing her to be challenged beyond what most girls at her level are being exposed to. This young girl now has the opportunity to become independent while learning a skill that will assist in breaking her poverty cycle.”
Studio Samuel Foundation has a big year planned and will be expanding their coding program allowing even more students to access this life-changing opportunity.
