R2 (Responsible Recycling) & ISO 14001 CERTIFIED

Certifications Ensure 100% Peace-of-Mind

Certifications are what protects organizations from the environmental, business and legal risks that are inherent with disposing of old IT equipment. The leading certifications in the electronics recycling industry are R2 and ISO14001. To ensure zero liability for our corporate surplus computer donors InterConnection maintains both of these rigorous standards.

CERTIFICATIONS ENSURE:
  • No materials are exported to other countries illegally.
  • A system of accountability is in place for all materials accepted, all the way to final disposition.
  • Data security is a top priority.
  • The highest electronics recycling industry standards and best practices are adhered to.
  • We are an industry leader in operations, safety, and environmental performance

Responsible Recycling© Standard (R2)

Using a R2 certified recycler ensures 100% peace of mind.

R2 (short for Responsible Recycling Standard) requires responsible management of electronic materials through the entire recycling process, prohibits illegal export of materials, and ensures recycling processes are safe and secure.

The R2 standard requires InterConnection to adhere to the highest industry standards and best practices in areas such as data security, environmental responsibility in the U.S. and abroad, operations and safety, accountability, and tracking e-waste to its final destination.

Down-stream vendors

Being R2 certified also means, that we must ensure that all our down stream vendors meet the same rigorous requirements and fulfill the same responsibilities as us. R2 ensures prohibits vendors from exporting toxic materials to countries that have enacted laws making their import illegal.

ISO 14001:2004

In order to achieve ISO14001:2004 certification, InterConnection has developed and implemented a series of practices and procedures, which, together with R2, make up a rigorous Environmental, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS). The ISO 14001 standard requires that a community or organization put in place and implement a series of practices and procedures that, when taken together, result in an environmental management system. ISO 14001 is not a technical standard and as such does not in any way replace technical requirements embodied in statutes or regulations. It also does not set prescribed standards of performance for organizations.

InterConnection was audited by Orion Registrar, Inc., an independent third-party auditor accredited by ANAB, the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board, and is officially recommended for both Responsible Recycling© Standard (R2) and ISO14001:2004.
