MAPKINSHO AS A MARK OF APPROVAL BY THE RURAL MASSES? WE ARE DOING THE BEST WE CAN TO:
- Encourage poor people to collectively work for, earn and share income generated from the processing of palmnuts considered as waste.
- Establish a captial formation base which the community can draw funs ie. by introducing capital/credit where it did not exist.
- Be a facility for handling and managing subsidies and credits for rural people and affiliated groups.
- Offer a range of services and advice such as organic manure, hybrid seedlings, agricultural imputs, functional literacy, etc which reflects the needs of the rural people.
- Create a forum for the exchange of development information.
- Prevent and avert the pollution of arable land, streams with plamnuts considered as waste and completely curb bushfires.
In the meantime, the running of MAPKINSHO in the short and long run cannot reflect its burden and goals.
This is because we do so much for our project, which cannot be priced. For instance, voluntary work, moving from village to village to educate the masses on the need not to burn palm kernel on arable land as domestic fuel nor dump it into sources of rural portable water, as waste while causing pollution.
In line with the Copenhagen summit which required the validation of capital and information in other to improve living standards; we are sincerely applealing to any institution, or individual(s) that is truly committed in philantropic atonement of the plight of the rural people, living in abject poverty, destitution and ignorance, to come to our assistance by donating to us, part or all of these need expressed above.
MAPKINSHO in 1996 took a bolder step to collect, transport, process, and commercialize the abundant and abandoned product (palmnut) considered by the local women as waste and as domestic fuel.
Many people didn't know that we were about breaking new grounds and making enjoyable experiences through the invention of organic manure, curing bushfires with nefarious effects, reducing poverty and raising additional income for the participants of the project that have gone along way in improving standards of living.
Our initiaive has diversified sources of incomes for the rural poor, mitigated risk and coped with shocks.
The kernel transformation project is a formal arrangement and technique that has reduce and mitigated the risks of losing arable land to kernel, pollution of sources of portable water, bushfires with nefarious effects and dumping on arable land.
This project has also come out with KERNCHAV organic manure that led to luxuriant cultivation and growth of crops in the area. The project, though under estimated in social capital cycles and development, offers important building blocks to:
- poverty eradication
- promoting functional literacy
- promoting sustainable development (mulitplication plots) and agricultural transformation (demontration farms, hybrid seedlings at subsidized prices, etc) agriculture and agricultural transformation (small industries) and self-help organizations. Provide by far, the greatest part of food and employment for over two-thirds of the labour in sub-saharan Africa. Agricultural transformation is also a major source of livelihood. This just what we are all about and exist for. This aspect needs a lot of support from the donor community.
