Activities

Activities carried out in 1999-2000

LSA implemented a project called "Legal Reform and Neighborhood Organizations," which aimed to provide legal support for the creation and the development of neighborhood-based organizations in Tbilisi.

LSA implemented a joint project with the NGO, Environmental Law Club, which aimed to popularize environmental law within the community and neighborhood-based societies by means of seminars.

LSA published in English and in Georgian a booklet titled "The Aarhus Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters." This booklet contains the text of this important international Convention, brief analytical comments, and a review of active Georgian environmental legislation.

LSA published in Georgian "Environmental Legislation of Georgia" (54 normative Acts of the Georgian Parliament in the field of the environment).

From the day of its establishment, the Association has given free legal advice to environmental NGO's and to community-based organizations.

The members of the Association are working as environmental public advocates in the courts of the Republic of Georgia, as well as serving as environmental legal experts when called upon to provide legal advice to government bodies, private citizens, and NGOs.
