A team of six volunteers from Pinellas Habitat for Humanity arrived in Belize on December 1 to assist in the construction of Mr. and Mrs. Lucas’ house in Belize City. The volunteers; Elaine Airey, Norm Bungard, Bob Cadzow, Dick Giebner and Chuck Oldanie are volunteers with Pinellas Habitat in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States. Bill Lifsey, another team member, is a volunteer with Lincoln County Habitat for Humanity in North Carolina.

The crew worked diligently in the mud and muck and constructed the footings and cobwall for the Lucas house. They also found time to lay out the foundation at Ms. Olga Miller’s house. They spent relaxing evenings enjoying fine Belizean food and company. Side trips were made to the zoo, Maya ruins and the Garifuna museum.

Norm Bungard spoke with several businesses and churches on behalf of Habitat for Humanity Belize and even penned the draft of our first Church newsletter. Thank you Norm!

And a BIG thank you to all of the team members who gave of their time, money and skills to assist Habitat for Humanity Belize and the Belizean community in constructing simple decent housing for those in need.
