Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest started as a local grassroots organization in Portland, Oregon, in 1998 to inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold. They help low-income, high risk girls overcome barriers to their academic and career success through curricula that teaches them to be physically and mentally healthy, helps them acquire academic leadership skills, and equips the girls with skills to access a bright and economically-independent future. Today they are an affiliate of Girls Incorporated, a national organization that provides 90+ affiliate organizations with program research, development, training, and advocacy support. The network serves 125,000 girls, ages 6-18, annually across the U.S. and Canada.

Earlier this year Girls inc. of the Pacific Northwest was awarded Laptops through our grant program. They are now being used in Girl Groups, their after school program, to help girls do research and learn to code. One girl group even competed in a LEGO robotics competition in which they created and programmed a robot to meet several challenges, all possible thanks to their InterConnection Laptops!
