Bridging the Digital Divide

IS OUR MISSION

Our Mission

We make information and communication technology accessible to underserved communities around the world. We accomplish this mission by providing high-quality refurbished computers to nonprofit and non-governmental organizations.

InterConnection is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

As an organization that refurbishes and ships computers nationwide, we are focused on reuse instead of recycling, and are committed to the highest standards for clean, green computer recycling and disposing of parts and peripherals.

 What We Offer

Low-cost computers to nonprofit and non governmental organizations around the world. Providing computers helps organizations struggling to make a difference with access to communication and resources.

A way for people and businesses to safely and charitably dispose of their used computer equipment and other electronic assets.

How We Help the Environment

Promote reuse as an alternative to recycling. We extend the life of working computers by refurbishing them for reuse.

Provide safe disposal for toxic materials contained in computer equipment. Equipment that can’t be refurbished for reuse is recycled according to stringent environmental standards.

Keep computer parts and equipment out of landfills. We work with local recycling experts to ensure that no parts or equipment end up in landfills.

Our History

Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, InterConnection is the largest computer and electronics reuse organization in Washington State. It was established in 1999 by Charles Brennick, after the idea for InterConnection came out of Mr. Brennick’s time working as an Ecotourism Developer in Costa Rica. He saw firsthand the benefits that access to technology, especially computers and the Internet, could give to remote organizations with limited resources.

InterConnection’s original focus was on developing and donating websites to nonprofits in developing countries, and over 100 websites were donated. The program soon expanded to include computer donations and technology training. In 2004, the InterConnection Computer Reuse Center opened in Seattle, serving as a hub to provide computers and technology resources to local and international communities in need.

As a community based organization, we provide refurbished laptops and desktop computers to charitable organizations around the world. Our priority is always on reuse first, allowing us to turn old computers into new opportunities. Throughout the years our charitable reuse program has provided affordable technology to over 300,000 people, and prevented millions of pounds of toxic computer components from entering the landfill; protecting our environment. Instead donated laptops, PCs, and notebooks become tools for change, growth, and future possibilities.
